How we work

Research you can actually trust

We are not a proxy seller. Our job is to help you decide, using disclosed evidence and a published method.

Disclosed facts only

We never invent prices or pool sizes. Unknown facts are marked “Not publicly disclosed”.

Transparent rubric

Every score comes from a weighted rubric you can read in full on our methodology page.

Ethics-forward

We weigh consent-based sourcing and acceptable-use transparency, not just speed and price.

Verification dates

Facts carry review dates and are re-checked on a quarterly cycle.

The basics

How rotation actually works

You connect to one gateway; it selects an exit address from a pool for each request — or holds one for a sticky session.

You send a request

Your client connects to the provider's single gateway endpoint with credentials and any targeting.

The gateway selects an exit

It filters the pool to addresses matching your targeting and picks an eligible residential exit.

The response returns

Traffic flows through that exit to the destination and back to you through the gateway.

It rotates — or sticks

By default the next request may use a new exit; a session id holds one exit for continuity.

A note on ethics and responsible use

Residential IP addresses belong to real people. We favour providers that source addresses with participant consent and publish an acceptable-use policy, and we cover ethical sourcing in depth. We do not support account abuse, fraud, credential attacks, evading access controls, or any unlawful activity — and no configuration makes those acceptable.

Frequently asked questions

What is a residential rotating proxy?
It is a service that routes your requests through IP addresses assigned to real households and automatically changes which address you use over time. See our full explainer.
Are residential rotating proxies legal to use?
The tool itself is lawful in many places, but legality depends on how you use it and the laws and terms that apply to you. Use them only for lawful, authorized activity, and seek qualified legal advice for anything consequential. This site provides general information, not legal advice.
Do you sell proxies?
No. We are an independent editorial comparison site. We do not operate any proxy network. Some outbound links may be affiliate links, disclosed on our affiliate disclosure page; they never influence our assessments.
How do you score providers?
We use a transparent, weighted rubric based only on publicly disclosed, verifiable facts. Unknown facts score zero and are never guessed. Read the full methodology.
Why are some facts marked “Not publicly disclosed”?
Because we do not invent data. Where a provider does not publicly state a fact, we mark it as not disclosed rather than guessing. This does not necessarily mean the feature is absent — only that it is not publicly stated.
